The Salted Cod Gallery Welcomes Kathleen George as August Guest Artist
GLOUCESTER, MA — August 1, 2025 — The Salted Cod Gallery is delighted to announce Kathleen George as the featured guest artist for the month of August.
Gloucester-based artist Kathleen George invites viewers into a deeply personal world where painting serves as both mirror and vessel—a way of giving voice to life’s inner tides. From her light-filled studio in her Gloucester apartment, George has spent a lifetime turning to art as an essential practice—one that grounds her emotionally and connects her to something greater.
“Art winds in and out of all my experiences,” she shares. “It has always been a stabilizing force in my emotional core.” Through grief, joy, rage, and reflection, painting has offered George a way to both celebrate and endure the solitary dimensions of life—transforming solitude into something sacred.
Whether guided by intuition or desire, she lets the work itself lead the way. Her process is physical, almost spiritual: “My arm and eye begin to feel more like spirit, and I travel to some other place… the movements of my body, like my mind, become a dance.”
George has explored many subjects over the years, but her intention remains the same: to create work that radiates power and beauty. “I can’t help making it,” she says. “I believe both making and viewing art offer us all a chance to see beyond regular life—a reflection and a path toward the deepest part of humanity.
