DCR’s Halibut Point State Park announces FREE May Programs
Programs are free and open to the public. Heavy rain cancels. Parking fees $5 Mass license plate and $20 other state license plate. An adult must accompany children. Spring Birding Walk—Symphony of Bird Song!
8:00 am—10:00 am. Meet at parking area. For all ages.
Stroll our seaside treasure with birding basics. Hear the symphony of spring bird song! Watch for them at the field’s, woodland’s, and ocean’s edge. Learn about their sounds, habits, and flight patterns. Enjoy extraordinary views. Bring your binoculars. Heavy rain cancels.

Celebrate Earth May with Live Animals!!! Live Vernal Pond Animals
11:00 am—12:30 am. Meet at visitor center. For all ages and abilities.
Live frogs, turtles, and salamanders will visit Halibut Point State Park with Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team. Get up close to these animals and learn about them, their behaviors, and habitats. Co-sponsored with Friends of Halibut Point State Park. Heavy rain cancels.

When Granite was King! Babson Farm Quarrying History Guided Walking Tour
11:00 am—12:30 pm. Meet at Park entrance. For ages 8+.
One hundred years ago, the Rockport Granite Company quarried granite stone here. Learn about the buildings, bridges, and breakwaters built to last. Touch tools of the trade. Find out how they moved these large, heavy stone pieces, and how they “paved” dirt streets in our new Nation’s growing cities—and around the world! Heavy rain cancels.
