Saturday’s Pourings Features Intriguing Wine Regions: Sintra & Vinho Verde, Portugal; Burgenland Austria; Trebbiano, It; Valle d’Aosta, It; Willamette Valley, OR

Quinta da Raza, Avesso (White), Vinho Verde, Portugal, 2019, Alc. 13% Varietal: Avesso, Tasting: Regarded as one of the top grapes in the Vinho Verde mix, Avesso is from southern Vinho Verde region close to the Douro. Exhibiting fresh aroma like apple, green grape, citrus, peach, acacia and minerality with bit of oak sense. Full body, peach, pear, apricot and citrus like acidity, very smooth, juicy, rich and ripe leading to a clean finish. A high level and high quality, elegant Vinho Verde that is already delicious, Pairs Well: Shellfish, vegetarian/vegan, appetizers and snacks, Rating: Wine Enthusiast 91pts, Wine & Spirits, 90pts ….$17.99

Vom Donabaum Gruber Veltliner, Niederoterreich, Weinviertel, Burgenland, Austria, 2019
Alc. 12.5% Varietal: 100% Gruner Veltliner, Tasting: This wine leads with lovely touch of flint, accentuating its green pear and lemon zest aromas. On the palate, it's light and dry, with a phenolic character that lends both texture and structure, adding complexity to all the freshness. Pairs Well: pork loin, vegetarian, lean fish, cured meats, Rating: 91pts Wine Enthusiast. $17.99           

Noelia Ricci Trebbiano Bro, Emilia-Romagna,  Trebbiano, Italy 2019, Alc.13.0% Varietals: Trebbiano, Romagnolo, Pagadebit, Tasting: Color: of straw yellow with golden reflections within. Bouquet: delicate fruit scents, lemon zest, florals and citrus notes combined. Flavor: This wine is graced with pear, lemon citrus and herbal notes, Pairs Well: pasta dishes, shellfish, mature and hard cheeses and cured meats…$19.99

La Kiuva, Rouge de Vallee, Valle d'Aosta, Italy 2020, Alc. 13.5%, Varietals: 70% Picotendro (local Nebbiolo clone), Gros Vien, Neyret, Cornalin, and Fumin, Tasting: The 2020 La Kiuva Rouge de Vallée indeed embodies the fresh and ethereally elegant character of mountain wines. Light-to-medium-bodied, it captivates the senses with aromas and flavors of brambly red raspberries, cherries, and strawberries. On the palate, the fruits are laced with subtle hints of spring herbs and baking spice; white pepper emerges on the long finish buoyed by vibrant acidity that gives it a youthful kick! Illahe Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon, 2020, Alc. 13.5%, Varietal: Oregon Pinot Noir
Tasting:The aromas of the 2020 Illahe Vineyards Willamette Valley Pinot Noir begin with strawberry, tamarind, and blackberry then broaden along the palate to include chalk, tobacco leaf, chocolate, and earth. The acid supports a complete yet not overwhelming tannin balanced between skin and oak. The wine retains its velvet mouthfeel through a process of clarification by racking. For an entry level pinot, this wine is a great value and will last 6 to 12 years under the best conditions. Pairs Well: beef, veal cutlets, game (venison, deer), game birds…..$29.99

Chao Rijo Vinho Tinto, Sintra, Adega Regional de Colares, Portugal, 2016, Alc. 12.5%
Varietals: 20% Tinta Roriz, 80% Castelao, Tasting: Elegant and restrained, this medium bodied red shows dried cherry and wild raspberry notes woven with leather and spice details. This classical Portugese wine finishes with a flash of violet, mineral and tobacco leaf notes. Pairs Well: artisan burgers, pasta, veal, Cornish game hens, rice dishes …$14.99
