WHAT & WHY: Pleased to reacquaint Saturday tasters with the distinctive, well-curated portfolio of 21st Century Wines, and our guest host and “grape” educator Bill Hoey.  This tasting event offers a practical learning experience, the distinctive qualities of the wines Bill is pouring and how they complement springtime fare….especially seasonal veggies that are beginning to appear at local, pop-up markets.  We are pleased our tastings present wine new to your palette, the occasion to learn, taste and experience fine wines of complexity.         

WHO: Guest Host Bill Hoey, 21st Century Wines and Savour’s Kathleen Morgan have selected an eclectic mix of fine wines as we continue to follow our transition to everything spring!

It leads with a lovely pink peony character that's complemented by scents of white peach, cranberry and currant, all lifted by a lime rind accent. The palate is fresh and lively, good body and acidity to lift the fruit and enliven the close. Rascallion 45 RPM Red Blend, Western Cape, Rascallion, So. Africa, 2019, Alc. 13%
Varietals: Grenache, Mourvedre, Tannat, Cinsault Tastings: Intense red color with a bright purple hue. Dark fruit, berry-cherry aromas. Blackberry, sweet dark fruit on the palate with hints of cloves and anise seed. Well balanced with elegant integrated tannins. Blue Rock “Baby Blue”, red blend,  Alexander Valley, CA, 2019, Alc. 14.5%
Varietals: six grapes – 43% cabernet sauvignon 25% merlot 11% syrah 10% petit verdot 7% cabernet franc and 4% malbec. Tastings: Baby Blue is always built for pleasure right out of the gate and this beautifully aromatic rendition is no exception. Loads of rich red and black fruits, plus a delightful hint of blueberry, all get the party started. This is followed up by a nice complement of baking spices, vanilla, a kiss of gentle herbs, just the right amount of beautiful French oak and earthy goodness to round things out on the finish. Wonderful length and supple tannins. Pairs Well: lamb stew, veal piccata, grilled Cornish game hens, rib roast… $34.99
